About lessons...

Devin's style of teaching is "old school." He uses many exercises created by Brenda Bufalino, concentrating on 8th notes and 16th notes. Each exercise is designed to "clean up" sounds by starting slowly and gradually picking up speed. Tap dancing is a form of percussion, and tap shoes are instruments, so musicality is a large part of the class. A portion of each class focuses on the sometimes "scary" subject of improv using exercises that make it fun! Improvisation is a wonderful skill to have in your bag of tricks, and is made easier when you have a larger tap vocabulary to draw from.
